Meet Your Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Babywearing Consultant
Kelsey Hughes
I didn’t get babywearing right the first time either.
I had a child development degree from Michigan State, a carrier I’d researched for weeks, and zero idea what I was actually doing. I set it aside. I used a stretchy wrap far longer than my body could handle— until my baby was 25 pounds and my pelvic floor had strong opinions about that decision.
What I know now is that nothing was wrong with me. I just never had someone show me.
That’s what I do for Metro Detroit families. I come to your home, get your carrier set up correctly, and stay until it feels right— whether you’re 36 weeks pregnant, one week postpartum, or four months in and finally ready to figure it out.
As a mom of two, I understand how important it is to have tools that actually support your daily life. Babywearing is one of the few things that truly does—it creates connection, supports your baby’s need for closeness, and gives you the freedom to move through your day with more ease.
My approach is practical, personalized, and rooted in real life. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I focus on helping you find what works for your body, your baby, and your routine so you can carry confidently and comfortably at home.
This isn’t something you should have to figure out alone. My goal is to provide clear, supportive guidance so you feel capable, confident, and fully supported every step of the way.
While You Care for Baby, I Care for You
You’re navigating a major transition—your body is recovering, your routines are shifting, and you’re learning what life looks like with your baby.
In the middle of all of that, babywearing is often something you’re expected to “just figure out.” But when your carrier doesn’t feel right, or your baby won’t settle, it can quickly become frustrating and overwhelming.
You might be:
Trying to get comfortable without pain
Unsure if your baby is positioned safely
Wondering why it doesn’t feel as easy as it looks
If there’s ever a time to have the right support, it’s now.
One of the hardest parts of babywearing is that small adjustments make a big difference—but they’re not always obvious. That’s where personalized support changes everything.
Instead of guessing or pushing through discomfort, you’ll have clear, hands-on guidance to help you:
Get a comfortable, supportive fit
Understand what your baby needs in the carrier
Use babywearing confidently in your everyday life
Whether you’re just getting started or trying to make something work, you don’t have to figure this out on your own.
My role is to make babywearing feel simple, supportive, and something you can rely on—so you can focus on your baby and move through your day with more ease and confidence.
YOUR METRO DETROIT AND SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN BABYWEARING SPECIALIST
My Passion + Purpose IS YOU
In the early days, so much of the focus shifts to your baby: how they’re doing, what they need, what’s best for them. And while all of that matters, it often leaves out one important piece…you. Your comfort. Your confidence. Your ability to move through your day without pain or frustration. Babywearing is meant to support both of you. As your babywearing consultant, my focus is on you—helping you feel comfortable, supported, and confident every time you carry your baby. This isn’t something you should have to figure out on your own. My goal is to provide the guidance you need so babywearing becomes a tool you can rely on—helping you and your baby move through this season with ease.
“I finally feel confident back carrying”
I’ve been babywearing for 5 years with all 3 of my kids, but I always stuck to pretty basic carriers because anything else honestly intimidated me—and if I’m being real, my setup always hurt my back.
Once my youngest hit about 8 months, I really wanted to start back carrying but just hadn’t made the time (or had the confidence) to figure it out. That’s where Kelsey came in. She came to my home, walked me through everything step by step, and even let me borrow one of her carriers to try out.
It can feel so overwhelming trying to learn all the different babywearing techniques on your own, but having someone there to support you, show you exactly what to do, and teach you made all the difference. I’m so grateful—I finally feel confident doing this on my own now.
